Fi is a freelance artist based in Bangor, Ireland.  Fi is a creative and accomplished artist with experience in many different aspects of art, including : Printmaking (collographs, lino cuts, intaglio)  Fabric art (inspired patchwork, creative embroidery) Ceramics, Leather work, Photografunky, Photography.

 

​As a lover of all things created, Fi is inspired by the environment and people around her.  She loves experimenting and exploring avenues to create new means of expression using a mix of techniques and media - eg, papers, clay and fabric as canvas and tools.

 

Her portfolio demonstrates a snapshot of the range of these expressions noted above. She believes creativity should be without restriction to enjoy and engage in, whatever the level, so that pleasure of the work that is produced is accessible for all

 

Fi is married to David.  They have 3 children and 1 grandchild.... with another littl'un on the way.

Background

Fi has achieved a suite of qualifications and gained experience as a professional businesswomen for over 25 years.  In addition to short and refresher courses in her areas of expertise she has achieved the following:

1981:   BA Hons Printed/Woven Textiles from Belfast College of Art (UK)

1985:   Post Graduate Certificate of Education

            English Speaking Board Advanced Certificate in Spoken English (University of Manchester)

2003:   Chartered Institute of Management Executive Diploma L5

2004:   Assessor and Verifier Awards from Training and Development Lead Body L5

2005:   Foundation Degree in Administration (Oxford and Cambridge Board) OCR L4

2006:   TEFL - Teaching English as a Foreign Language Diploma L4

 

Fi has taught Art and Design and Lectured in Communications/Creativity at various levels, from working with students with learning difficulties/challenges and postgraduate cohorts as well as others outside of educational institutions.    In addition to experience gained as a Lecturer/Artist she has worked as an Internal and External Moderator for several respected Examination Boards. (OCR - Oxford and Cambridge, C&G - City and Guilds and the OCNNI - Open College Network Northern Ireland - such is her commitment to quality.

She has consistently added to her skills participating in training courses focusing on print making techniques which she has further developed in her work with and treatment of her fabric pieces.  

 

Fi has fulfilled commissions for Commercial and Individual clients and home and exhibits regularly both within the UK and internationally; her most recent exhibitions abroad being in Georgia and North Carolina (USA)
